This Portuguese competition of management and strategy had is first edition in United States of America. A team from EDP Renewables North America will represent the country at the international final in Kiev, Ukraine.
From a select pool of teams that participated in the pilot phase of the Global Management Challenge USA, the top 8 competed in the inaugural National Final at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE Euronext), on 13th March. The National Champion was the Aeolus team and is composed of business executives from EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA), a Houston-based company that develops, constructs, owns and operates wind farms throughout North America. This team will represent the USA for the first time at the International Final in Kiev, Ukraine.
The EDPR NA team was formed by Heather Wong (origination manager), Federico Toro (senior procurement manager), Kevin Ku (finance manager), Cedric Kouam (market operations manager), and Matt Hutchinson (performance analysis associate). They competed against students in challenging business schools and managers from successful companies. Business Schools and Universities such as Stanford, Chicago Booth, and the University of Virginia were represented.
The Global Management Challenge USA is an initiative launched last December with NYSE Euronext and Time Inc./Fortune Custom Content as strategic and media partners respectively.
At the evening ceremony at NYSE Euronext on 13th March, invited guests representing the corporate world and academic learnt more about this exciting national initiative which offers many opportunities for organizations, including a cost effective way to advance the professional development of their people while receiving significant brand recognition.
