After Kuwait, it is the time of the United Arab Emirates to launch the first edition of the Global Management Challenge
The Global Management Challenge is expanding in the Middle East. The first Global Management Challenge in this region took place in 2012, when Kuwait held its first edition of the competition. Next month, the first edition of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is to be launched and it is expected that Qatar will join the competition soon.
“We believe the competition will help to improve the standards of management, benefit the economy and the development of the UAE,” says Mian Muneer ud din, who is responsible for the organization of the Global Management Challenge in this confederation of states.
Mian Muneer ud din informs us, that he has already made contact with several universities and companies interested in signing up teams for this challenge. According to Mian Muneer ud din, the first edition of the competition in this part of the world will begin in the third week of November 2013 and will end in early 2014, but still in time for the UAE to be included in the International final, in April 2014. “The Global Management Challenge allows participants to put decisions into practice, develop strategies and management skills. This kind of training is useful in any country, “says Mian Muneer ud din.
The Challenge creates managers
The educational aspect of the competition is important for the UAE, which are growing rapidly and want to find their place in the world, requiring good managers. To Mian Muneer ud din “the competition will train students who will be tomorrow’s managers and challenge them to go beyond the classroom, to feel and experience the real life and competitive scenarios where they can put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired and verify the practical effect of its decisions”.
The Global Management Challenge, organized by Expresso and SDG for over 30 years, is present in more than 30 countries. Pedro Alves Costa, CEO of SDG, tell us that to be present in countries like the United States of America, China and the Middle East dignifies this initiative. Kuwait will be competing in the second edition of the challenge and our partners in this country want to go ahead with the first edition in Qatar, before the end of this year. “We want to grow in the Middle East and also expand in the Nordic countries”, explains Pedro Alves Costa. However, this growth will be done in a sustained manner, once the expansionist policy of the Portuguese competition values firstly the quality rather than quantity.
