In 2013 the Ivory Coast held the 3rd edition of the Global Management Challenge and Cameroon its first one, both organized by Aziz Diallo. In both countries over hundred teams participated in this competition.
The 3rd edition of the competition in the Ivory Coast was made up of 137 participating teams, and 103 teams taking part in the first edition in Cameroon. For Aziz Diallo, the Global Management Challenge «allows participants to get into the shoes of a business manager, with daily challenges to manage, the various departments of a business, including the production chain, distribution/sales and human resources to achieve a sustainable financial performance. The participant therefore learns the premises of management, marketing analysis, and financial analysis». He added that the Global Management Challenge allows participants to develop a business network, team spirit and learn how to manage a team and develop the spirit of leadership. The participants also develop an analytical mind, and this competition promotes excellence.
The 2013 edition in the Ivory Coast and in Cameroon used the new version of the simulator. Aziz Diallo thinks that «the criteria used to rank the teams have been improved. It is now on the return on investment of their respective businesses that teams are judged unlike last year where market value was used. Furthermore, the new configuration of the game is enriched with new components of the management of the company. The new simulator platform seems very convenient to use and brings new areas of thinking for the challengers. It is good to have this kind of improvement to ensure that our software is the closest to business reality and that we maintain our competitive advantage against the competition». This was the first time for the Cameroon teams but the Ivory Coast teams had no complains about the new version so far. Teams who attended last year and this year’s competition were happily surprised with the new dimensions of the decisions to take: outsourcing factors, green social responsibility, stock exchange arbitrage, etc.
«We definitely think that the new version is closer to reality. The previous one was good, but this one addresses some new challenges that companies are facing in today’s business. Indeed, this new simulator gives the opportunity to challengers take some new kinds of decisions related to current business trends: outsourcing, carbon footprint and stock exchange arbitrage», explained Aziz Diallo.
The Ivory Coast and Cameroon are among the youngest in the organization of the Global Management Challenge, so the legacy is currently being built. «The teams from older countries, more used to the former software – though the additions don’t change the game radically- might need to adapt their management style innovations. Thus, we believe that having some changes in the simulator from time to time puts the teams at the same level during the international finals» concluded Aziz Diallo.
