The triumph of a mixed team

Portugal will be represented in the international final of the 2012 Edition by a joint team, composed of three management students of the Catholic University of Portugal and executives of EDP. Extremely motivated, they believe that their victory was due to the mix of know-how and theoretical knowledge.

The national final of the Global Management Challenge 2012 in Portugal took place at the beginning of last November. Eight teams competed aggressively for the title of winner. After a hard day of competition in the premises of Essilor Portugal, it was a mixed team that achieved the best performance, a thus will be representing Portugal in the international final, scheduled for the 16 to 18 April 2013 in Bucharest, Romania. The Portuguese team have thus qualified to compete for the international title, confronting the winning national teams of the other participating countries.

Vasco António Rodrigues leads the team that will represent Portugal in Bucharest. Formed by three students of the Portuguese Catholic University management and executives of EDP, provides a desireable balance between the know-how and the scholars who gave the victory to these young people. “Our strategy was to increase the production capacity and in this way achieve leverage to long-term gains,” said Vasco António Rodrigues, in the national final, after their victory was disclosed. On the day of the final the winning team was in close to last place after the initial stages but still managed to reach the top spot.

In addition to the winning mixed team, another team which took part in the Portuguese national final again, reached the third place. Five of the teams were teams of executives. The composition of the team that took second place, was formed by executives of Zon and was only  four cents behind the winners.
