Global Management Challenge International final in Macao

The Chinese territory will host this year’s international event from April 18 to 20, which will include the presence of 26 countries.

The international final of the 2016 edition of the Global Management Challenge will be played this month in Macao. In addition to the Portuguese team and the host, the other countries will be Angola, Brazil, Cameroon, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, India, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Kuwait, Latvia, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, People’s Republic of China, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Slovak Republic, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates.

During two intense days, the competing teams, formed by managers, students and mixed (students and managers), will give their all to bring home the title of International Winner. On the first day, the semi-finals are held, where teams are divided into four groups. They are given the background of the company they are going to manage and will have to take five sets of decisions throughout the day. During the final round, which takes place the following day, the two best classified teams from within each group will compete against each other, and the best of the eight finalists will be crowned International Winner.

In recent years, the winning team of the international edition has hailed from the countries of Eastern Europe, especially Russia and Ukraine. However Macao won this coveted title in 2007 and last year came in second. The People’s Republic of China has already been crowned winner several times and is a strong contender for the title.

In spite of past performances there is everything to play for in this international final since the competition is wide open and all countries are out to win.

The Global Management Challenge came to Macao in 1996 and the event has been organised by the MMA – Macao Management Association, which was formally constituted in October 1984. For the fifth time, Macao will host the International final of the Global Management Challenge. According to MMA « Macau wants to become an international tourism and leisure center. The planned opening of new spaces this year will diversify supply». There is so much to see in this place and, in the opinion of MMA «it’s a unique destination for leisure tourism, business and family activities».

The 26 countries that will be competing in the Global Management Challenge in Macao will be able to enjoy the offer of tourism and leisure, the mild climate and local cuisine.
